Good Foundations Philosophy
"We strive to help young people achieve their independence and goals".
Being Healthy
All our young people have individual health plans, and attend regular L.A.C. medicals.
They are actively encouraged to adopt healthier lifestyles and we strongly discourage any form of
substance abuse.
Being Safe
Strong boundaries, daily structured routines, risk assessments and individual
work sessions focused on keeping young people safe because every child counts.
Supporting Young People to Independence
Each young person is assessed with action and assessment records and care
programmes and risk assessment plans. A full and varied programme to assess life
skills is undertaken and monthly reports are submitted to the social worker.
At every stage the young people are guided through this often difficut transition
with a nominated worker. During the early part of their placement daily visits
from a personal advisor help young people deal with the transition and supports
them in their new living experience. Contacts with local colleges and employers
have been made to provide future employment and education opportunities.
Enjoying and Achieving
Young people are encouraged to access local facilities and engage in personal
hobbies with activities available as part of our incentives and rewards system.
Making a Positive Contribution
Young people are encouraged to engage in local activities and are individually
supported to access extra curricular activities, which may lead to vocational
opportunities.
Economic Well Being
Young people are invloved in the planning of weekly budgets as part of out life
skills exercise. This, we believe, gives young people realistic expectations of
life when the leave care.
